Clinical Experience in Traumatic and Orthopaedic
|
My experience to date has provided a solid grounding in the general principles and practice of a broad spectrum of elective orthopaedics and trauma. In addition, specialised experience has been gained in the following fields. |
Area of Interest
Hip Surgery |
My interest in this field began during my work at Norwich with Mr Hugh Phillips and Mr J K Tucker the pioneers of the Norwich hip system. This gained a tremendous impetus during my tenure with Mr T F Stoyle. It was at this time that I collected data and worked on my thesis. This gave me an insight into the problems of the adult hip, hip replacements and revision hip surgery. |
Knee Surgery |
My earlier and current involvement with Mr M L Harding, President of the British Knee / Society, helped me gain experience in the diagnostic and operative management of most of the knee disorders. |
Poliomyelitis |
During my training in India I was also involved in the management of the problems of deformities, muscle imbalance and joint instability in the post polioparalytic phase both in the paediatric and adult age groups. At this time I was trained in the techniques of tendon transfers and osteotomies. |

Theses |
"Radiographic analysis of the Mittelmeier uncemented total hip replacement - a study of 94 hips followed for more than four years"
R R Choudhry, MCh Orth thesis, University of Liverpool, UK, 1990 A detailed and critical evaluation of 94 hips operated between four and ten years (with an average of 6.8 years) has been done in this study. The importance of stem fit, the role of collar in a hip prosthesis and subsidence of a hip implant have been correlated with other signs of implant loosening. |
